In an effort to help combat the opioid crisis, the URI Community First Responder Program is offering free education and resources to rural Rhode Island communities. They are offering six free interactive educational modules on their website. These modules offer evidence-based information and support related to the opioid epidemic.
Participants will learn how to save lives by recognizing, responding to, and reversing an opioid-related breathing emergency from prescription pain medications or illicit substances. People who use unregulated substances, older adults and those with respiratory conditions who take pain medications are particularly vulnerable at this time due to COVID-19. Everyone who completes the online training will receive a Community First Responder certificate and have the option to be mailed a free naloxone (Narcan) nasal spray kit and/or harm reduction supplies (fentanyl test strips) anonymously to their home. See flyer and visit web.uri.edu/cfrp to become a Community First Responder and help save lives! |
